On the night of October 3, 1957 Fort Bridger was burning - set ablaze by its Mormon owners! The Mormons bought Fort Bridger in 1855, but the approach of a federal army caused the Mormon leaders, fearful of further persecution, to destroy the fort and harass the advance of the army.
