The New Jersey Federalists

This is the only book ever to be published on the subject. Revisionist in its interpretation, it attempts to explore fully the history of the state's Federalists. It begins with the rudimentary origins of the party, extends through the party's disintegration to its realignment during the formation of the second American party system in the mid-1820s, and includes an appendix containing biographical sketches of the forty most important leaders of the New Jersey Federalist party throughout its history. ~~~ As an undergraduate studying under the late Harold F. Wilson, author of The Jersey Shore, Rudolph J. Pasler`s interest in New Jersey history was awakened. Subsequently he wrote a master`s thesis and doctoral dissertation examining the Federalists in New Jersey. Along the way his wife Margaret C. Pasler became interested in her husband`s field. With a degree in library science, she joined with him in producing their first journal article and now this volume.
