Even If You Can't Carry a Tune offers a thoroughly unique approach for combining culture and grammar in the high-beginning to high-intermediate ESL classroom. It teaches basic grammatical structures as presented naturally in ten popular songs, including Tennessee Waltz, Cat's in the Cradle, Little Boxes, and Tie a Yellow Ribbon 'Round the Old Oak Tree. The songs -- representative of folk, jazz, rock, pop and Broadway -- are illustrative not simply of American musical styles but of American culture as well, telling as they do of our attitudes towards love, family and friendship.
