Terra-Cotta Warriors and Horses at the Tomb of Qin Shi Huang

A scholarly examination of the terra-cotta warriors and horses found in the tomb of Qin Shi Huang, king of the state of Qin (r. 246-221 BC) who conquered all other Warring States and united China in 221 BC.The soldiers were created with clay molds and then individualized one by one. There are approximately 6,000 terra-cotta warriors, the lot being a means of protecting the First Qin Emperor in the afterlife from evil spirits.
