Vegetation Mapping

The time for vegetation mapping has arrived. On all continents vegetation maps are now being prepared, and it is interesting to see how a field of knowledge can become prominent almost overnight just because a certain phase in the long history of science has been reached. Less than a century ago vegetation maps were largely unknown, but the stage was set, and by today the attained heights of achievement are spectacular.
