Chuck Stewart's jazz files

A pictorial record of many of the great and innovative jazz musicians of the last 35 years offered by the photographer, Chuck Stewart. Jazz names like Duke Ellington, Billie Holliday, John Coltrane, Lester Bowie, David Murray, Wynton Marsalis and Charles Mingus all feature, along with anecdotes retold by the artists themselves. For example, Betty Carter talks about scatting, Carmen McRae recalls Bud Powell and Miles Davis speaks about his attitude to audiences. Paul Carter Harrison who supplies the text, has written "The Great McDaddy" and "The Death of Boogie Woogie".
