First Encounter With Francis of Assisi

St. Francis set the universe into a state of praise and of fraternity. The boldness of his innovating dynamism was equaled only by his filial submission to the Church, which he would reform from within. Francis realized the impossible task of being the most liberated man in the church of his day and yet the most docile to its hierarchy and its institutions. He mobilized all those, no matter who they were, who were avid for the spirit of God and impatient to serve the church.
