Scuttle the Stowaway Mouse

I still have my copy of Scuttle, thanks to my maternal grandmother who kept the books my siblings left with her for future visits. The story was enthralling to me, the young boy who longed for a somewhat misconceived life at sea (thanks to television (Treasure Island, Gilligan's Island, etc.)). The story of the little mouse who finds himself on a ship (but away from the dreaded wharf-rats) was certainly engaging and even exciting. I remember being simply entranced by the illustrations. I can still clearly visualize the bearded pirate and the sinister wharf-rats. Best of all, was the conclusion, which I shall not spoil. This is a delightful and entrancing story about a little mouse who makes a good accounting of himself. (Amazon customer)
