A Light to the Gentiles

A psychobiography of an outstanding spiritual leader, Francis Libermann, founder of the Spiritans and contemporary of Soren Kierkegaard. His life illustrates how consonant spiritual formation overcame the too rigorous initial formation of an oversensitive child, condemnation by his father, suicidal tendencies, and discrimination as a member of the Jewish minority. One of his most important achievements during his short lifetime was his daring initiative in helping to re-open the African continent for Christianity after centuries of neglect.
