This is a collection of three lectures on "Jesus and His Audience" delivered by the author before nearly 200 clergy at the Truro Diocesan Clergy School in Newquay [England] from the 27th to the 29th of September, 1971. Written in an unusually clear, occasionally humorous style, this book makes an entire civilization come alive and helps us better to understand the context of events which are so important for us twenty centuries later.
