Education As Contested Terrain: Nicaragua, 1979-1993

Although the role of education in the transition to socialism has been documented, few studies have examined the role of education in the transition from socialism to capitalism. The dismantling of socialist states in Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union, and in some Third World countries provides a backdrop for this study of education and social transformation in Nicaragua. This book should be of interest to students of Latin American politics and history, comparative education, and international affairs.
