This is the second of two volumes which focus on the determinants of emigration from Central America and the Caribbean Basin to the USA, and on regional and sectoral economic developments that may provide alternatives to emigration. Subsequent volumes in the series examine the effects of international trade and investment, and of sending-country policies on migration flows; the use of migrant remittances to encourage small-business development; and the special problems of smaller countries in the region.
