Paleontologist Eldredge (curator, Dept. of Invertebrates, American Museum of Natural History, NYC) overturns the traditional view of evolution. Instead of a slow and inevitable process, he shows that life forms, generally, do not evolve to any significant degree until after a massive extinction.
