He teaches classes in controlling stress and tension and related topics and now has more than 1100 participants each year in his college-level stress management program. He holds master's and bachelor's degrees from the University of Kansas and a doctorate in biomedical health from the University of Maryland. In addition to this text, he is the author of Investigations in Stress Control (with D. Hyde), Relaxation Exercises for Controlling Stress and Tension, and numerous research and philosophy papers related to the phenomenon of human stress. (from the back cover of this book)
