Studies in the Bible and Science

"Has the Bible been discredited by the discoveries of modern science? Is man the product of an age-long process of evolution? Can evolution be reconciled with the Bible record? Was the Deluge of Noah a local flood or a world-wide flood? What about the "gap theory"? How valid is the principle of uniformity? Were the "days" of creation real days or symbolic days? Is the Biblical revelation of God's purposes for the world true? These and similar questions, which reflect the modern tension between Biblical Christianity and the philosophy of evolutionary development, are discussed and answered in the sixteen chapters of this book. On the basis of the recognition that true science, dealing as it does only with present phenomena, is not able to speak with authority on matters of origins and meanings, and accepting the judgment of the Christian centuries that the Bible is truly the Word of God, the author shows that all these issues can and must be resolved in terms of the clear revelations of the Scriptures.
