Miniature Rooms: The Thorne Rooms at the Art Institute of Chicago

Published by The Art Institute of Chicago Generations of visitors to The Art Institute of Chicago have been entranced by the Thorne Rooms. These sixty-eight miniature rooms, designed by Chicago socialite Mrs. James Ward Thorne between 1934 and 1940, chronicle both European and American interiors ranging from the 16th to the early 20th century. This stunning, newly designed and revised edition includes full-colour photographs of each room, and original drawings and details of individual objects reproduced to actual scale, such as a bust from the English Rotunda and Library from the Regency Period.
