One of Hollywood's most enduring genres, Westerns (Fort Apache, High Noon, Shane, to name but three) dominated movie screens for over forty years. And unlike other classes of films, the Western made a smooth transition to television, with shows such as Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Virginian leading the way.The 24 interviews in this work take us back to a time when Westerns were tops in television ratings and box office receipts. The interviewees (Lee Aaker, John Agar, Harry Carey, Jr., Lois Hall, Ben Johnson, Sue Ane Langdon, Walter Reed, Virginia Vale, Clint Walker, and 15 others) take us behind the scenes, showing us how the Westerns were made and giving us insights about the personalities involved.
