The Burma Road: The Epic Story of the China-Burma-India Theater in World War II

As the Japanese Army closed China's seaports at the onset of World War II, more than 200,000 Chinese laborers embarked on the task of cutting a seven-hundred-mile overland route across the Himalayan Plateau. They succeeded in less than two years, but the route was severed when Burma fell. It was the job of American General Joseph Stilwell to reopen it, keep China supplied by airlift, and drive the Japanese out of Burma.
