Ogham: An Irish Alphabet

The form of Irish known as Ogham was established as a medium of written communication by the fourth century AD. Ogham is believed to have been influenced by the Latin alphabet and consists of twenty letters carved along a vertical line, for example along the edge of a standing stone.
