The Life of Percy Bysshe Shelley (Bcl1-Pr English Literature Series)
Description:
Excerpt from The Life of Percy Bysshe ShelleyMy dear Alfred, - My earliest recollections are of digging on the sands at Teignmouth, between the sea and those red cliffs now bastioned by Brunel's long seawall, and of gathering wild convolvuluses at the foot of the cliffs before the railway was there. I was little more than a year and a half old then; and my guide, philosopher, and friend was my elder brother, you, some three years and a half old. It has been a less joyful digging and flower-culling, on a shiftier and more uncertain strand, this in which you have been helping me round about the footings of Tom Medwin's Life of Shelley. Still I have enjoyed it; and I believe you have. I know, at all events, that your learned and brotherly assistance has been of great value to me; and I am venturing, without your leave, to make this confession publicly, and to dedicate whatever is mine in the following pages to you.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
