Waves and Fields in Inhomogeneous Media (Electromagnetic Waves)

Reprint of a work published by Van Nostrand Reinhold in 1990. Rather than emphasizing numerical techniques used in solving problems of waves and fields in inhomogeneous fields, this text, which grew out of a graduate-level course at the U. of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, develops understanding of the basic foundations of the various mathematical methods. It assumes knowledge of the rudiments of electromagnetic theory, but despite the preponderance of electromagnetic examples, many of the techniques are easily adapted to other wave phenomena.
