This book interprets the turbulent Canadian times. It tells the story of a Canada that has pursued the goal of a just society, and has succeeded in providing individuals, groups and institutions with unprecedented freedom.

But emancipation has not let to integration. We have been left with isolated tiles rather than a mosaic art-piece. Canada has become a fragmented society where personal and group rights are being valued over the collective good, where sheer expression of viewpoints is being valued over the thoughtful evaluation of what is accurate and best.

We are a society badly in need of better balance between the individual and the group, between choice and discernment. The good news is that it is still possible.
