Drawing upon fieldwork conducted in the Italian village of Mozzogorgna, Budani (anthropology, U. of Delaware) describes the experiences of women who survived the wartime occupation of Orsogna and the Battle of the Sangro River during WWII. In contrast to predominantly masculinist explanations of the experience of war, Budani's feminist interpretation of the more than 50 narratives focuses on the ways in which Orsognese women negotiate their social worlds.
