Wolf Kahn 2020 Calendar
Description:
“I’m always trying to get to a danger point in color, where color either becomes too sweet or it becomes too harsh, it becomes too noisy or too quiet, and at that point I still want the picture to be strong, forceful, and the carrier of everything that a painting has to have: contrast, drama, austerity.”
—Wolf Kahn
In the landscapes of Wolf Kahn (American, b. Germany 1927), vivid and improbable yet harmonic colors awaken sensory delights—the sunlit glow of a florid meadow, a rustling of leaves in the breeze, the cool tranquility within a stand of birch trees.
Kahn has received Fulbright and Guggenheim fellowships, and his works are in many collections, including those of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
