The Science of Breastfeeding: Module 3 (LACTATION SPECIALISTS SELF-STUDY SERIES)

The Lactation Specialist Self Study Series is designed to assist the l earner in studying the field of lactation in a systematic fashion. Use d independently or as a set, these four modules provide a study tool f or the lactation consultant desiring to update practice or review for the certification exam. The series draws from current nursing, nutriti on, dental, medical, and psychological literature to provide a complet e approach. Each module features a synopsis of current practice, with cross-references to related topics among modules. Divided into two to three chapters containing several sections, each module is learner-fr iendly, with multiple-choice review questions at the beginning and end of each section, along with answer keys, illustrations, reference lis ts, and an index. Continuing education credits are available from cred entialing organizations in the lactation, nursing, and dietetic professions. The Science of Breastfeeding covers anatomy and physiology of breastfeeding, the immunologic and biochemical components of human milk, and maternal nutritional needs, assessment guidelines, and interventions.
