Dual Attraction: Understanding Bisexuality

First major study of bisexuality. Based on intensive interviews & surveys of 800 gay, lesbian, bisexual (BS), & heterosexual residents of San Francisco, they offer a wealth of data about the nature of BS attraction, the steps that lead people to become BS, & how sexual preference can change over time. They found that there are 5 major types of "BS"; that BS men & women differ in their sexual profiles; that BS men & women differ in whether they have romantic feelings toward the same sex; & that most of the BS were involved in stable relationships while continuing sexual activity outside those relationships. Moreover, as the AIDS crisis unfolded, many BS men entered into monogamous relationships with women, & BS women into more lesbian relationships.
