Surgeon General's Workshop on Breastfeeding and Human Lactation: Followup Report

Following the Surgeon General's Workshop on Breastfeeding and Human Lactation in 1984, and the publication of the Conf. Report in Sept. 1984, there was a renewal of interest and a resurgence of activity in promotion of breastfeeding. The workshop participants were actively involved in the process of assessing the current status of breastfeeding promotion and of developing recommend. and strategies to facilitate progress toward achieving the 1990 breastfeeding objectives. This Followup Report documents efforts emanating from the workshop and disseminates information related to breastfeeding promotion activities and accomplishments. It recognizes other useful approaches, describe these approaches, and identifies where they are being implemented.
