The Art of the Post Impressionists
Description:
After the revolution of Impressionism, painters had to search for new ways to carry the new ideas forward. This fine book illustrated the high points of that search with a selection of glorious pictures. Van Gogh chose to paint in bright, flat shades & Cezanne found an impressive way of describing the structure of landscape. At the same time Seurat was working out a formula for Impressionist theories by painting in dots. Then there were the Fauves, headed by Matisse, as well as Picasso's exoeriment with a structured Cubist approach.
