Dark Undertakings

Fifty-five-year-old Jim Lapsford makes an unusually healthy-looking corpse. Although a life-long devotee of vitamin pills and herbal remedies, his GP diagnoses a heart attack. Trainee undertaker Drew Slocombe isn't so sure. An ex-nurse, Drew is convinced there is enough medical evidence to merit an inquest at least. And there's Jim's personal life: in addition to his wife, sons and a grieving terrier, Jim has left behind a series of scorned mistresses. Drew knows he's lucky to have a job, but can he really turn his back on murder? He has plenty of suspects but no proof - and Jim's cremation is just days away...
