Death of a Con Man

A black sedan speeds around a hairpin turn & collides with another car. The only serious injury is to the driver of the sedan. Bleeding profusely, he manages to sputter his extremely rare blood type before lapsing into unconsciousness. He receives an immediate transfusion when he reaches the emergency room, but it is the wrong type, & he dies. Who was this man, & who wanted him dead?
