Just the name Fenway conjures up some of Boston's most familiar and beloved images-the Boston Red Sox, the Green Monster, and the lights of Fenway Park on a summer night. The history of the park is long and fascinating, but it is only a piece of the story behind this unique Boston neighborhood.

Boston's Fenway delves into the past when this now impressive area was known as Muddy River. The marsh was eventually filled in, and new land known as the Back Bay Fens was created. Since that time, the architecture and aesthetics of the area have changed significantly. With Frederick Law Olmstead's famous Emerald Necklace lacing through, it is today a haven for such prestigious institutions and buildings as Northeastern University, the Museum of Fine Arts, the Christian Science Church, and the Boston Conservatory.
