Alan Atkinson took is wife and two teenage children to Bali for an idyllic family holiday. Not much had changed since his last vacation there twenty years ago. Half way through their time there, everything changed. The Sari Club was blown up and scores of people - many Australian - were killed or maimed. Scores more are still missing. Alan Atkinson was staying close by and was therefore one of the first Western journalists on the scene. He reported alone and then as part of the ABC team for ten days, the first day for 18 hours straight. This book is his personal story, from holidaying in an island paradise to reporting on hell.
