The similar characteristics and early growth patterns of the agricultural sectors of Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand, invite comparative study. Focusing on the issue of growth, Akiyama (senior advisor, Foundation for Advanced Study on International Development) and Larson (senior economist, World Bank's Research Group) present 12 papers that comparatively explore questions of endowments, technology, accumulation of productive factors, policy, advocacy in the rural sectors, and other questions of agricultural growth.
