Quarr Abbey and its lands, 1132-1631

Quarr Abbey was the only independent monastery on the Isle of Wight. This study deals particularly with the building up and exploitation of its lands and urban properties, shown against the general economic and social history of the Isle of Wight over the 500 years from the abbey's foundation in 1132 to the final disposal of its lands in 1631. This is the first historical work devoted specifically to the medieval history of the Isle of Wight to be published since the 18th century.
