An Urban Geography of England and Wales in the Nineteenth Century
Description:
The 19th century, liberally interpreted as the period 1750-1914, saw not only an industrial but an urban revolution. A complete transformation took place both in the city system and the internal structure of towns. That transformation established the basic lineaments of present day urban Britain and a range of problems which is still apparent. The purpose of the book is to examine that transformation, to establish the processes which were operative and set out the inheritance which it gave to the contemporary urban pattern.
