Pathfinder Glasgow, the Clyde Valley, Ayrshire and Arran: Walks
Description:
The Glasgow area, once the holiday playground for industrial Clydeside, has much to tempt walkers today. Ayrshire is predominantly a region of rolling hills and expansive moorlands with wide river valleys and lush pastures. In the south, many of the slopes are clothed with the conifer plantations of Carrick Forest, and there is plenty of fine walking in the hills among the numerous forest trails and on the slopes of the Ayr, Doon, Girvan and Stinchar valleys. The Ayrshire coast is rugged, with impressive cliffs interspersed with fine sandy beaches, with the two principal islands, Bute and Arran, lying offshore.
