Fool's Ransom

The sinister, distorted voice announced the kidnapping of philandering industrialist Simon Edwards, thus closing the 'missing persons' file at Bridgetown police headquarters. Will the kidnapper - if he successfully collects the ransom - release his victim or kill to cover his own trail? As Chief Inspector Jim Ashworth is cautiously treading on egg shells with the case, a woman is raped. When the rapist strikes again, the kidnapping takes on a sudden and dramatic turn, but is it not until the discovery of the dead body of Simon Edwards' wife, Barbara, that Ashworth can begin to unravel this baffling mystery.
