Beth Halliday has retreated in devastation to a bleak world peopled by the ghosts of her dead husband and son. Her timely meeting with the warm-hearted Stephanie and her charismatic husband, Finn, triggers an unexpected healing which culminates in Beth's acceptance of a challenging job teaching music therapy to problem children. But just as she is beginning to put her own grief aside, tragedy strikes again and Beth, encouraged by the wisdom of an old countryman, discovers it is she who has the ability to heal.
