The History of the Pacific Islands: Kingdoms of the Reefs

This is a survey of human history in the Pacific islands, from the beginnings of recorded time until the present day. To tell the story of humankind across the great expanse of the Pacific is a daunting task. This book considers how indigenous societies came to be established and the tales that native people told of that history. It goes on to describe their attempts to incorporate and then come to terms with Western influence. This book is designed to be of interest to undergraduate students of history and anthropology.
