Description:
Miller and Lux bought land in the San Joaquin Valley for as little as 25 cents an acre. The land was undeveloped swamp land at that time. The San Joaquin River flows for 366 miles from its source high up in the Sierra before finally reaching the San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. There have been water wars, range wars and even a few Indian wars in the Valley. The great San Joaquin Valley is blessed with being the site of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. In its natural state the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta was a fresh-water marsh. About two thirds of the Delta’s islands are below sea level.
