Bangalore, Brooklyn & Beyond is K.K. Ramamurthy's second collection of memoirs and essays which look at his youth in India, his emigration to New York and his subsequent journeys and experiences. Ramamurthy offers observations on his own life, the arts, and also provides biographies on some of the friends and family who have enriched his life. The first chapter looks at the author's initial experiences growing up in Bangalore as well as his journeys back to India later in life, while the second chapter explores his life in America as a new immigrant and also as an experienced engineer and family man. In the third section of the book, Ramamurthy discusses his long and impassioned relationship to Carnatic music, the classical genre of South India, while the final chapter contains an assortment of biographies on some of the unique and extraordinary people the author has befriended over the years.
