Wilderness Beckons: An Alaskan Adventure
Description:
Think it would be great to be adventurous, and head into the unknown? Share our adventure with us. The year was 1973 and Anchorage beckoned. Without benefit of four-wheel drive or camper, my three young children, my mother, and myself squeezed into our Dodge Charger with its plaid car top carrier and set out from Oregon. A major part of the travel was on the rugged, unpaved Alaska-Canada (ALCAN) Highway which included about 1,500 miles of gravel with limited services along the way. Wilderness. Why did we have to leave the Whitehorse Dairy Queen in embarrassment? What happened when we got stranded in frontier Skagway and were nearly out of money? Read and enjoy. Patty Oliver
