We all assume that grown women don’t believe in fairy tales and yet, most of us wish unicorns were real, and some of us are even waiting for George Clooney to whisk us off to Lake Como … (Amal who?). As women we tend to believe these myths … if I’m nice, pretty, polite, gracious and hardworking, justice will prevail or, better yet, I will be saved.

At age 47, with two kids to raise (one with special needs), a challenging business to run and a marriage to nurture, fashion designer Elaine Turner’s glass slippers began to crack. Refusing to believe the cracks had anything to do with pre-menopausal weight gain, she slowly started to realize that the pressure from attempting to be a perfect wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend, boss and business owner was in fact fracturing her “perfect” exterior.
