Birthright in land;: An essay on the right of property in land (Reprints of economic classics)
Description:
This is a nineteenth century reprinting with biographical notes by D.C. MacDonald of William Ogilvie's 1782 "An Essay on the Right of Property in Land," which was contructed on Lockean and physiocratic principles. Ogilvie was among the first advocates of sweeping agrarian reform which included the recommendation of a Georgian "single tax." William Godwin was undoubtedly inspired by Ogilvie's work and appraised his reasoning as having "considerable merit" in his Enquiry Concerning Political Justice. "Able and influential." J.B.
