Work and Wealth: A Human Valuation

Hobson's analysis of the human costs of industrial capitalism was one of the early efforts to measure the social costs of production and has influenced three generations of liberal thought especially in its basic distinctions between illth and wealth, illfare and welfare. Hobson also emphasized the social nature of production and its inconsistency with the individualism of a private enterprise economy.
