Bourke-White (1904-1971) was one of the great American documentary photographers, perhaps best known for having taken the first cover image for Life magazine. She was also the first female war correspondent and the first female permitted to work in combat zones, which she did, extensively, during World War II. 383 pages; over 70 b&w plates; 6.5 x 9.25 inches (larger than subsequent printings.)
