Opera

This is a broadly based anthology on opera including accounts of famous first nights and performances, material culled from the numerous biographies and autobiographies and from some of the famous correspondents, for example Strauss and von Hoffman, or diaries like Cosima Wagner. Many novelists - like Tolstoy and Proust - have written about opera and opera houses have sprung up in the most unlikely places like Santa Fe, and the Amazon jungle.
