Description:

The Instructor's Guide for Algebra and Trigonometry is a supplement to the text by Roland E. Larson and Robert P. Hostetler. The first part of this guide consists of chapter summaries. The summary lists the topics covered in each section. I have also written some "Chapter Comments" which are based on my own teaching experience as a mathematics instructor. Some additional topics in the text are only mentioned in the exercise sets, and I have listed these for your reference. The second part of the guide includes a bank of chapter tests. The first three exams for each chapter are multiple choice. I devoted much of my time to constructing the multiple choice exams so that the incorrect answers will correspond to typical mistakes that I have found to be special problems for students. The last two exams for each chapter are completion style. The number of questions in each test ranges from 10 to 20, and the tests are geared to 50-minute class periods. The exams are primarily intended as samples to give instructors ideas for questions. However, for those instructors who wish to use these particular exams, the format has been set to facilitate photocopying. Finally, the third part of the guide includes the answers to the sample chapter tests. I have made every effort to see that the answers are correct. (from page iii, Preface)
