Above it All

Bodies weren't the only things buried in Vietnam. Or in any war. Sometimes dreams are buried forever. Not only your dreams, but fragments of your life are destroyed as well. Combat has a way of putting everything you were taught to believe out of order, often to the point it may never resurface. I, like most of my fellow soldiers, was not taught to kill or be killed. Engaging in life-threatening conflict was not on the corner diner menu in small town America. Not in the tiny Texas town where I was raised, anyway.
