The purpose of this book is to ease the trauma of losing a loved one. Losing a family member can be devastating, both emotionally and financially. Having some knowledge about the industry and knowing what to do and what to expect after a loved one dies can greatly ease the trauma and put you and your family on the road to a quicker recovery. In this book I will answer questions you may have always wanted to ask, I will answer questions you didn't know to ask, and I will probably answer some questions you never wanted to ask. Basically I want to give you an education about the funeral industry. As an educated consumer you will make much better decisions so you can have the service that you want, save yourself money, and protect yourself from being taken advantage of. I will limit my personal opinions and will not tell you what you should or should not do. Everybody is different and has his or her own way of coping and dealing with grief. I joke about us Americans. We don't think we are going to die. At least we act that way. Most other cultures know exactly what to do when someone dies, and they are well prepared. Most of us don't have a clue what to do when a family member dies. The average person is only involved in making funeral arrangements two and half times in their lives. When a death occurs, most people just call the funeral home that they used for Uncle Joe or Aunt Minerva. Maybe they call the funeral home they drive by every day on their way to work. They don't do any research. Who wants to do homework after a death in the family has just occurred?You probably would like to know who I am and why you should read my book, so I want to start off by telling you a little bit about myself. I tell my friends that I am just a poor humble undertaker. I have an Associate's Degree of Applied Science in Funeral Services. I am licensed in the state of Texas as a funeral director and embalmer.
